It's not that easy to find nice images for eInk picture frames. That's why I built a gallery that displays public domain art and is optimized for ePaper.
The art gallery is based on the paperlesspaper-art-project. There, artworks and motifs are collected, prepared and annotated with metadata.
All of the 59,390 images and illustrations can also be found at art.paperlesspaper.de.
I have already started evaluating the images for "eInk suitability" and in the next step optimization presets will be added.
The focus here is on public domain content. That means: the works are in the public domain and may be used freely. Especially for digital picture frames and ePaper displays this is ideal, because classical art, historical motifs and illustrations can thus be made visible in a new, uncomplicated way.
Der 7-Zoll BilderrahmenFound images can be opened directly in the image editor and adjusted for your display (uses https://github.com/paperlesspaper/epdoptimize ). That's practical for ePaper displays, where contrast, brightness and rendering often need to be optimized.
The process is simple: search for artwork, choose a motif, adjust it in the image editor and display it on the screen.
Die KunstgalerieNot only are the public domain motifs used openly accessible: paperlesspaper itself is also open source and the paperlesspaper-Art project and the associated tools are developed openly and transparently. So you can do what and how you want with it (and are welcome to contribute back to the project)!
So sieht es dann an der Wand aus! That's exactly why we're of course happy if you buy our eInk picture frames.
Because with that you don't just get a closed gadget, but a system that truly belongs to you: open software, public domain content and a display you can design yourself. You decide what runs on it, which art is shown and how your frame is used.
No subscription requirement, no closed content catalog, no artificially limited ecosystem — instead a picture frame you own and can use freely.
Together with the eInk picture frame, this creates an open, beautiful and long-lasting system: for art that is free, on hardware that you own.
